Convert PNG to JPG

Drag your PNG images in. If they have transparency, pick which background color to use.

100% private — your files are processed on your device and never uploaded to a server.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your PNGs

Drag one or more images into the drop zone, or click to pick them.

  2. 2

    Pick a background color

If your image has transparent parts, that color fills them in (white is the most common choice).

  3. 3

    Download the JPG

Each converted file is ready to download individually.

What happens to transparency when converting to JPG

JPG doesn't support an alpha channel (transparency): every pixel needs a solid color. When your PNG has transparent areas, this tool fills them with the background color you choose (white by default), instead of leaving them black by accident, which is what many automatic converters do.

JPG usually produces noticeably lighter files than PNG for photographs, thanks to its lossy compression. That's why it's the preferred choice for photos you're uploading to the web or sharing over messaging apps, where file size matters more than pixel-perfect fidelity.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to the transparent parts of my PNG?

They're filled with the background color you pick before converting. It defaults to white, but you can change it to any color.

Why is the JPG smaller than the original PNG?

Because JPG uses lossy compression, especially efficient on photos with gradients and lots of colors. PNG is lossless, so it tends to be heavier.

Do I lose quality when converting?

Yes, to a small degree — JPG applies mild lossy compression. For normal web use, the visual difference is practically unnoticeable.

Can I convert several PNGs at once?

Yes, you can drag multiple files and each one is processed and downloaded separately.
